Besides writing books and magazine articles, I manage the day-to-day operations here at SMP. After serving 13 years as an active duty Air Force pilot and seven more in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves, I completed a second career as an engineer in the defense industry working on several major aircraft programs like the B-2 bomber and the F-22, F-35 and F-16 fighters. I tend to concentrate my writing on subjects related to the military and aviation (who would have guessed?) like
Cessna Warbirds and
T-41 Mescalero. However, I also wrote the historical novel
Devil in the North Woods and a short story collection (
Pilots and Normal People). Currently, I write the "Cessna Warbirds" column for
Cessna Flyer magazine.

First and foremost, I am a writer — having written the nonfiction chronicle of my strange adventures in Bigfoot research (
Backyard Bigfoot) and the Human Origins Series novels (
The Hunt for Bigfoot and
Lord of the Dead). I have another novel in the works, plus two Bigfoot books. As Technology Officer of SMP, I design, create, and maintain the SMP website, as well as
CessnaWarbirds.com. I've also used my skills to create my own Bigfoot research site for the group I started, the
Michigan Upper Peninsula Bigfoot Organization.

I've been editing Walt and Lisa’s magazine and book manuscripts for the past 20 years. I am also a professional artist with several regional art awards and a popular 18-painting set of
aviation artwork, which includes the Cessna Warbirds Collection. In 2006, the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual juried
Aviation Art Exhibition selected my painting
Hit My Smoke for a one-year exhibit in the
AirVenture Museum. I have been selling my
aviation art as prints for the past eight years. When we began SMP, I took on the additional task of creating original artwork for our book covers. Currently, I am creating a series of Michigan Lighthouse paintings, so stand by for the announcement of the series launch.
